Introduction. The article presents the results of a diagnostic study of the features of the communicative skills of children with mental retardation
Materials and methods. The main research methods are the analysis of scientific literature devoted to the problem of commu-
nicative skills of children of senior preschool age with mental retardation; as well as diagnostic techniques, including observation and conversation, methods of statistical data processing.
Results. The authors presented an analysis of the study, a description of the main observation criteria; The general level of development of communicative skills of children with mental retardation has been identified and described.
Discussion. It is emphasized that the effectiveness of the research is the determination of the level of development of communication skills of children of senior preschool age with mental retardation, comparison of the data obtained with the normatively developing children.
Conclusion. It is concluded that the implementation of the cycle of remedial classes will contribute to the formation and development of communication skills of children of preschool age with mental retardation.
